Listen to The Holmwood Foundation!
Fio Trethewey, one of my Doctor Who brethren – I’ve previously bought their incredible little Who-themed enamel pin badges – has a really cool new project with their partner Georgia Cook called The Holmwood Foundation.
Described as “a found footage horror-fiction podcast”, with a loose basis in the Dracula story, they say it is “a story about identity and self discovery, family loyalty and devotion, all wrapped around a nightmare of a road trip with a rejuvenating severed head, incredibly sincere Victorian ghosts, and an analogue recorder.”
It has a focus on trans and queer people both in the cast and the crew. The pilot episode is out, and they are crowd-funding to make the rest of the series. I really, really enjoyed part one, and thought the sound design on it in particular was really good, and they’ve got Rebecca Root and Sean Carlsen as the main characters. They’ve said they won’t make the full season unless they can raise the kickstarter money to ensure they can pay all the cast and production staff properly, so do help out if you like it.
You can find out more on the Holmwood Foundation website, and there is a trailer on YouTube.
