Making my Guardian First Edition debut
by Martin Belam, November 6, 2025 Those of you who regularly do my increasingly silly Thursday news quiz will have noticed that today, rather than appearing at 11am as is traditional, the 222nd edition emerged blinking in the dark horror of 6.30am.
Why, you ask?
Well, partly because today was also my debut writing the main feature for the Guardian’s First Edition newsletter. Publishing the quiz early meant I had a chance to pimp it in that, and who wouldn’t seize that opportunity?
