I am entering my Vinted era

I’ve had more than one major clear-out in my life, and the internet was a very different place the last couple of times.

Back in 2005, I was getting ready to head off on a travel adventure through Eastern Europe and Italy, eventually settling in Crete for a couple of years, which you may have followed on Yahoo! 360° and then on the hosted Typepad blog “A lemon tree of our own”. I told you it was different times.

Before I left the country I was posting on my old currybet.net site (which still exists today thanks to the webmastery of Will Turrell!) about flogging off signed David Sylvian, Doctor Who and Depeche Mode items on eBay to help fund the trip, and generate lovely photos like this one of me at St Paul’s in Rome. There was pretty much no social media back then – just blog posts and auctions.

The second clear-out was a bit tougher – moving out of the family home and into my flat and ditching loads of things I didn’t want to be carting around forever.

Now comes the third clear-out. I’ve been in my flat for over three years, and there are things sitting in cupboards that I haven’t looked at, touched, or even remembered I owned in all that time. It is time for them to find a good home before my kids or my partner end up having to throw them in a skip when I die.

So, if you have a soft spot for 1990s Doctor Who books, signed music memoirs from the 2020s, or general oddities (bric-a-brac, DVDs, vinyl, and cassettes), I might have something to pique your interest on my Vinted profile.

I’ve even bitten the bullet to start sorting out my masses of 1970s and 1980s Lego.
