Oh my word the Telegraph has given up on reporting the news!
Well, if you read my Twitter timeline it has apparently.
Journalist after journalist going “this piece in the Guardian says that the Telegraph has said that the only four key skills they want from journalists are ‘social, video, analytics and search engine optimisation’”
Do give it a rest.
Everybody working at the Telegraph has clearly already got reporting and writing and a host of other skills. But in 2014 why wouldn’t you set out four key digital skills you’d want them to have as well?
And my main gripe – all these people saying “the Telegraph aren’t going to hire people with reporting skills anymore” on the basis of one unsourced article in a rival publication. Honestly, does leaping to that conclusion sound like good reporting skills to you :-)
Felicity Morse summed it up brilliantly…
With journos talking about this in such highly opinionated terms, you feel for anyone who tries to effect change http://t.co/3jfkRywBvB
