I’m a journalist at the Guardian in London, where I do live blogging on major news events, write quizzes, cover Eurovision and do the episode-by-episode recaps of Doctor Who.
I’ve been working in digital media for over 20 years, and in that time have worked as a Product Manager, an Information Architect, a User Experience Designer and as an Editor.
I helped Trinity Mirror develop UsVsTh3m, Ampp3d and Mirror Row Zed, as well as building a “social content” team for Mirror Online.
I also previously worked at the Guardian as Head of User Experience and as Social Media Editor, and have had stints at Sony and the BBC. In between these jobs I ran Emblem Digital Consulting, working with clients like Arts Council England and the Natural History Museum.
I’ve written and edited books for the Guardian Shorts series about the Olympics, Facebook and Doctor Who. I’ve been blogging and writing for years on currybet.net, at the BBC and the Guardian and on this site about journalism, digital media and design. You can mail me at martin.belam@theguardian.com.
